Welcome to Nutrition Services

Good nutrition and learning go hand in hand!

The Nutrition Services department is made up of a team of food and nutrition professionals that are dedicated to students' health, well being and their ability to learn. We support learning by promoting healthy habits for lifelong nutrition and fitness practices.

Meals, foods and beverages sold or served at schools meet state and federal requirements which are based on the USDA Dietary Guidelines. We provide students with access to a variety of affordable and appealing foods that meet the health and nutrition needs of students.

News  from the  Director

Lunch Balance Reporting - This last year, state legislators passed a law with the intent of creating "Shame Free" lunch spaces.  This means that our cafe workers are not allowed to share balance totals or any account information with students any longer as it may create embarrassment.  Cafe workers and Nutrition Services Staff must communicate the balances and account information directly with parents.  To this end, we have set up a weekly Negative Balance Auto-Dialer / Email alert.  The first Auto-Dialer / Email alert will go out on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 starting at 6:00pm.  It will run once a week every Wednesday after that.  It has been setup in English and Spanish.  If you would like to make a payment to your child's account, you can do so by sending cash or check to the school cafe staff directly or you may visit www.mymealtime.com to make a payment using a credit card.

School Breakfast

Breakfast in the classroom was successfully implemented at both the Primary School and the Intermediate School for 2015-2016.  Breakfast in the classroom was modified in February 2017 and is now served before the bell and then taken to their classroom.  Breakfast is served at no charge to ALL students.  Breakfast is important for students' long-term health and overall success in school.  Breakfast Before the Bell was successfully implemented for the 2016-2017 school year for the Middle School and High School.  This program provides breakfast to ALL Middle School and High School students at no charge.  All students have the opportunity to visit their School Cafe before the first bell rings and grab a FREE breakfast to start their day.

We have added new items to our Breakfast and Lunch menus at all of our schools and are excited at the increase in participation and the positive feedback we have been receiving from students, staff and parents.  I encourage any of our parents to swing by and meet me and to try some of our new menu items.
